Colwyn Bay is one of North Wales' classic Victorian seaside resorts, which has undergone significant developments in recent years to reinvent itself. The resort features a generous stretch of fine golden sand backed by a seawall and promenade, making it a Blue Flag beach with an array of facilities along the beachfront and in the town.
The beach itself is a major draw, with three miles of golden sand suitable for sunbathing, swimming, and leisurely walks. The promenade is well-maintained and features a cycle path, making it dog-friendly all year round, except for restricted areas between 1st May and 30th September. The beachfront also offers family-friendly facilities, kiosks, cafes, shops, and a watersports centre as part of the Porth Eirias waterside development.
Colwyn Bay offers a range of activities, including watersports, fishing, cycling, and walking along the coastal paths. The resort is also home to various attractions, such as Dinosaur World, Eirias park, and the Welsh Mountain zoo. Visitors can enjoy the nearby slipways for fishing, sailing, and jet skiing.
The original Victoria Pier, which dated back to the turn of the century, has been partly rebuilt in a simpler, shorter form, retaining much of its ornate metalwork. The Porth Eirias waterside development has transformed the beachfront, featuring a watersports centre, shops, and restaurants.
