Weston-super-Mare is a lively seaside resort with a long history as a popular Victorian holiday destination. The town has undergone significant investment in recent years, particularly in its pier and promenade. Visitors can enjoy a range of traditional British seaside activities, including miles of sandy beaches, entertainment options, and water sports.
The Marine Lake Beach is a small, artificially maintained cove located on Knightstone Island, accessible via Knightstone Causeway. The lake was built in 1927 to provide a safe bathing area for visitors when the tide is out. The beach is especially popular with families and those looking for a safe and enjoyable saltwater bathing experience, free from the risks of strong currents and sinking sands.
Knightstone Harbour features a sea wall and slipway, while Knightstone Island has a number of cafes and restaurants. Visitors can also enjoy a range of activities, including kite surfing, jet skiing, windsurfing, and sailing. The town is home to the Grand Pier, which was rebuilt after a fire in 2008 and offers world-class rides and attractions. The Weston Donkeys, a seafront entertainment, and the Seaquarium are also popular attractions.
Weston-super-Mare Beach is dog-friendly during the winter months, but there are summer restrictions in place between Royal Sands and the Grand Pier from 1st May to 30th September.
Weston-super-Mare has the second-highest tidal range in the world, making it an ideal location for a range of water sports and activities.
