The beach features some sand near the jetty, with pebbles, mudflats, and marshland further south towards the River Parrett. This varied landscape provides a diverse range of habitats for wildlife to thrive.
From the beach, visitors can watch boats come and go, and spot seabirds foraging. The nearby Stert and Apex Wildlife Park are also home to a variety of seabirds, which can be seen from the beach.
In contrast, Burnham Main Beach is a wide, sandy beach with excellent water quality, making it safe for swimming. This beach is also patrolled by lifeguards during the holiday season and offers a range of activities, including designated areas for boats and jet skis. The beach is close to the famous pier, shops, and cafes.
While Burnham Yacht Club Beach may not offer the same range of facilities as Burnham Main Beach, it is still a pleasant spot for watching the boats and spotting wildlife. Parking is available along the seafront at Burnham Main Beach, and visitors can take a stroll along the beach to the lighthouse.
