Jubilee Beach, also known as City Beach, was opened in 2003 after the construction of improved flood defences. The beach stretches from Southend Pier to Thorpe Bay and features a large shingle beach backed by a busy esplanade. The Marine Parade section of the beach is particularly popular with families.
The beach is situated in the heart of Southend-on-Sea, a well-established seaside resort on the north side of the Thames estuary. Visitors can enjoy a variety of entertainments and amusements, including the Sealife Centre, The Kursaal Theme Park, and Adventure Island. The beach itself offers a range of amenities, including children's splash fountains, state-of-the-art lighting, and beachside cafes.
During the summer months, the beach is perfect for swimming, bathing, and sunbathing, with lifeguards on duty for added safety. Visitors can also enjoy a range of water activities, including speed boat rides and boat trips along the coast. Fishing is also permitted at high tide. However, there are some restrictions in place, including a ban on BBQs and dogs from May 1st to September 30th.
The beach offers a range of facilities, including disabled facilities, a first aid point, a lost child centre, and picnic areas. The entrance sign and indicator board are located on the Golden Mile, making it easy for visitors to find their way.
