Canvey Island Beach is a seaside destination located in the Thames Estuary, off the south east coast of Essex, offering a unique blend of natural beauty and nostalgic charm.

Canvey Island Beach is situated in the Thames Estuary, off the south east coast of Essex, and separated from the mainland by a channel. The beach is composed of sand and mud, providing a picturesque view of the Kent coastline.

In the early 20th century, Canvey Island was developed as a seaside resort, although with limited success. One of the most notable reminders of this era is the 1930s Labworth Café, an architectural gem that was renovated in the 1990s and now operates as a beachfront restaurant. A highlight of the beach is the children's tidal swimming pool, which is a popular attraction.

The seafront area features a few small shops and cafes, as well as a couple of pleasant parks. Visitors can also enjoy seaside amusements, including Leisure Island Fun Park and Fantasy Island, which offer fairground rides, crazy golf, and arcades.

One of the island's most intriguing claims to fame is the 1953 discovery of an unidentified sea creature, dubbed "The Canvey Island Monster." It is now believed that the 1.5 metre animal was an anglerfish of some description.

Labworth Beach on Canvey Island is a great option for dog owners, as dogs are permitted on the beach throughout the year. The iconic Art Deco Labworth Café, built in the early 1930s by Ove Arup, is a must-visit attraction, offering a meal with a view.
