The beach is located near Chalkwell train station and can be accessed via Chalkwell Esplanade, with a car park available for visitors. The beach is also close to a range of amenities, including cafes, fish and chip shops, and ice cream kiosks.
The beach features a tidal paddling pool, which is ideal for toddlers and young children, as well as lifeguard services during peak times. Visitors can also explore the beach's mud, sand, and shingle at low tide, and search for crabs and other marine wildlife. A large granite obelisk, known as The Crowstone, can be seen just off the beach, partially submerged at high tide.
The Crowstone was placed on the beach in the early 19th century, and is thought to mark the seaward limit of the City of London's jurisdiction over the River Thames. It is believed that some kind of marker may have stood on this site since the 12th century.
The beach offers a range of facilities, including grassy areas perfect for picnicking, cafes, and lifeguard services during peak times. However, dogs are not allowed on the beach between May 1st and September 30th during the holiday season.
