Little Haven Beach is a small, sheltered sandy beach located in a fishing village close to Broad Haven. The beach faces west out to St Brides Bay and is situated within a small cove. It is approximately 100 metres across and features a mix of wet sand and pebbles. A slipway is available for launching boats, making it a popular spot for boat users.
The bathing water at Little Haven Beach lies within the Pembrokeshire Marine Special Area of Conservation, and the cliffs to the north and south form part of the Newgale to Little Haven Site of Special Scientific Interest. The beach is also located within Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, highlighting the environmental value of the area. A small stream drains onto the bathing water from steep-sided pastoral land.
The beach is flanked on either side with rocks and forms a natural cove. At low tide, visitors can walk around the headland to the large sandy bay at Settlands and beyond that to Broad Haven. The Pembrokeshire Coast path passes alongside the beach, offering pleasant walks in both directions. A path suitable for pushchairs leads up to The Point, from which there are good views over St Bride’s Bay. The beach features rock pools at low tide, making it an ideal spot for searching for interesting sealife. A forked stream runs through the sand, providing an attraction for children.
The beach has a long slipway and is popular with boat users as well as families. It can get quite busy in the summer months. Note that the beach has been designated a voluntary no-smoking area. There is a limited amount of paid parking in the village, as well as three pubs and a café.
In the 1970s, Little Haven became the focus of attention from the press after a number of sightings of UFOs were reported in the area.
Little Haven Beach is adjacent to the Pembrokeshire Coast Path.
