West Dale Beach is situated on the outskirts of the village of Dale, close to the old RNAS Dale airbase. The beach features a mix of dark sand and shingle, backed by cliffs, with rock pools at either end. From the beach, visitors can enjoy views of Skokholm Island, a bird sanctuary located just off the coast.
The beach's proximity to the village of Dale means that a range of amenities are available just a short distance away. Visitors can explore the Griffin Inn, located in the heart of Dale, and visit Dale Castle, which dates back to the 18th century but was rebuilt in the 20th century. Other points of interest in the area include the Rhaetic Fault, a geological feature that stretches to the Mildford Haven Waterway, and Great Castle Head, an Iron Age fort located on the south side of the beach.
The beach is part of a long valley that runs along the coast and ends at the Dale Peninsula, an area of geological importance. The cliffs surrounding the beach are part of the Rhaetic Fault, which provides a glimpse into the region's complex geological history.
Westdale Beach is a secluded and off-the-beaten-path destination, making it an ideal spot for a relaxing afternoon visit. The beach is easily accessible by car, with a short drive from Dale down narrow lanes.
Westdale Beach is adjacent to the Pembrokeshire Coast Path and the Wales Coast Path.
