Pevensey Bay is a historic fishing village located on the Sussex coast, boasting a rural shingle beach known for its significance in British history. .

Pevensey Bay is situated on the Sussex coast between Eastbourne and Hastings, approximately 5 miles north-east of Eastbourne. The beach is predominantly shingle, with shallow sand flats exposed at low water. The small town of Pevensey backs onto the beach, and local shops and facilities are available within a 100m walk of the beach.

The beach is famously known as the landing place for William the Conqueror in 1066, before the Battle of Hastings. During the 12th century, the former harbour was a busy commercial port, although today the coast has receded, and the village of Pevensey is now about 1 mile away from the beach.

The beach is quieter than most of the beaches along this stretch of the coast and unusually for this area, there are no cliffs. This makes it a good spot for views over the channel and around the gentle curve of the coastline. A long stretch of beach extends from Normans Bay to the harbour, with the southern side backed by holiday apartments, holiday parks, and chalets. The Pevensey Bay Sailing Club is also located on this part of the beach.

North-east of the beach is a flat, marshy area known as the Pevensey Levels, which is home to the rare fen raft spider and a wide range of interesting flora and fauna. The area is a natural haven for wild birds, flowers, and animals.

There is a pay-and-display car park, with toilets adjacent to the beach. In 2016, the remains of a 50-foot whale washed up on the Pevensey Bay Beach in almost exactly the same spot where a similar large whale washed up in 1865.
