St Leonards Beach is situated in the district of Hastings in East Sussex, and is a resort beach that offers a traditional British seaside experience. The beach is predominantly shingle, with shallow sand flats exposed at low water. A rocky ledge is located in the east of the bathing water, which is exposed at low water. The beach is backed by a promenade and overlooked by the iconic art deco Marine Court, designed in 1936.
The beach has plenty of facilities nearby, including a lifeguard during the summer months, based between groyne 41 and 42. St Leonards Beach is popular with families and daytrippers, and is also a favourite among watersport enthusiasts, who can enjoy windsurfing, kitesurfing, kayaking, and fishing.
The beach has a sandy stretch exposed at low tide, and offers safe bathing, with RNLI lifeguards present during the holiday season. Although not always as busy as Hastings, St Leonards Beach is a popular destination for those looking for a traditional British seaside experience, with the town of Hastings to explore and plenty of beach holiday accommodation near the beachfront.
