Hastings is an established seaside resort with long sand and shingle beaches and plenty of facilities and entertainment. The beach at Bulverhythe is predominantly shingle, interspersed with groynes, and is a popular spot for swimming and water sports.
The beach is also home to the shipwreck 'the Amsterdam', which ran aground in 1749 and is of great historical importance as the best-preserved East India Company ship still around. Visitors can arrange tours of the wreck, but should exercise caution due to the presence of quicksand in the area.
Facilities at Bulverhythe Beach include beach huts available for hire, parking with direct access to the beach off Cinque Ports Way, a café, and a large children's play area. Additional parking can be found along Sea Road, with access to the beach via a short flight of steps. The closest railway station is West St Leonards, just a few hundred meters away.
Marina St Leonards is a seaside resort located just to the west of Hastings, offering an unspoilt shingle beach with a sandy stretch exposed at low tide. The beach is popular with families and day-trippers, with safe bathing and RNLI lifeguards during the holiday season. Watersports enthusiasts can enjoy windsurfing, kitesurfing, and kayaking.
