Meols beach at Dove Point is characterised by an undulating sandy beach with sand banks visible from the shore at high tide. The beach overlooks Liverpool Bay and the Mersey estuary, providing stunning views and sunsets. A coastal road and promenade runs behind the beach, extending southwest from the bathing water.
Located between Hoylake and Wallasey, Meols Beach is easily accessible just off the A553. At low tide, the small stretch of shingle beach becomes a wide expanse of sand and mudflats, making it an ideal spot for various activities. The beach is part of the 4-mile long North Wirral Coastal Park, which runs from Meols Dove Point to the King’s Parade at New Brighton. The park offers a large open space with acres of dunes, common land, and foreshore, popular with cyclists, joggers, and picnickers.
Meols Beach is a popular destination for several recreational activities, including kite buggying, sand yachting, and horse riding. The beach and its surroundings are also renowned for birdwatching, particularly during the winter months. The expansive views across Liverpool Bay and the beautiful sunsets make it an attractive spot for beachcombing, long walks, and relaxation.
The area behind the Wirral Coastguard Rescue Station is mainly residential, with holiday parks backing the dunes towards Leasowe. Visitors can walk along Meols Parade towards Hoylake or through the dunes and the Wirral Circular Trail. Meols Beach is dog-friendly all year round, with no restrictions and ample room to roam.
