Wallasey Beach is a 3/4 mile stretch of flat sand with undisturbed views across Liverpool Bay. The beach borders the North Wirral Coastal Park, a 4 mile stretch of coast featuring sand dunes and nature reserves. The beach is a popular attraction for families during the summer months.
The beach has a high sea wall immediately behind it, and at high tide, the sand is completely covered up to the sea wall. The bathing water is situated on the north west coast of England, just west of Liverpool, and has a wide expanse of sand with a shallow profile to the Mersey Estuary.
New Brighton Beach, located in the north-east corner of the Wirral peninsula, offers an attractive 3/4-mile stretch of golden sand. The beach provides striking views over the Liverpool city skyline and is a good place to watch ships sailing out from the mouth of the Mersey estuary into the Irish Sea. The beach is also home to the 19th century Grade II listed Perch Rock Fort and the picturesque Perch Rock lighthouse.
Children visiting the beach can enjoy playing around the Black Pearl, a community-built driftwood boat. The seaside resort of New Brighton has been popular since the mid-19th century and now features a £60 million leisure development - Marine Point, with shops, restaurants, theatre, and cinema.
Visitors are advised to stay close to the main beach area, as there have been reports of walkers getting into trouble with mud/quicksand while walking far out on the wet sand at low tide. At the time of writing, there are no known dog restrictions on the beach, but there have been reports in local papers of possible plans to introduce restrictions.
