Dymchurch Beach is a straight beach, adjacent to Romney Marsh, and is a mix of sand and shingle. The beach has a wide concrete footway and a low sea wall, with a wide shallow sand flat exposed at low water. At high tide, the sea can reach up to the sea wall, leaving no beach exposed. The beach stretches for approximately 3 miles along the Kent coast and is backed by a new, improved sea wall built in 2011 at a cost of £60 million.
The beach offers a range of facilities, including refreshments near Dymchurch Martello Tower, donkey rides in the holiday season, an amusement park, and a variety of resort facilities. Visitors can also take a ride on the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch narrow gauge railway, which runs between Hythe and Dungeness. The village of Dymchurch has a range of amenities, including cafés, amusements, pubs, and small shops.
The beach is shallow and gently sloping, making it generally safe for swimming. However, visitors are advised to check the tide times and stay aware of the sea conditions. In 2024, Dymchurch beach received a Seaside Award from Keep Britain Tidy, but in 2025, there were concerns over water quality, resulting in a 'no swim' warning.
The beach is accessible, with ramps and level areas along the promenade, and there is a decent-sized pay-and-display car park close to the beach. Public toilets are also available. Dogs are allowed on Dymchurch Beach, but with some restrictions. From 1st May to 30th September, dogs are not permitted on the main beach area near the centre of the village between 10am and 6pm.
Dymchurch Beach is adjacent to the Kent Coastline Walk.
