Sandgate West Beach is a quiet and picturesque beach located in the western outskirts of Folkestone, Kent, offering a serene spot for relaxation and outdoor activities. .

Sandgate West Beach is a single, quiet beach situated just west of Sandgate Town Centre beach, making it a lovely spot for walking and quite popular for fishing. The beach is predominantly shingle with wide shallow sand flats exposed at low water, and a breakwater is located further east.

Sandgate is a small coastal town approximately 2 miles down the coast from Folkestone, situated at the northern edge of Hythe Bay, which stretches from Folkestone down to the headland of Dungeness. The beach is backed by a promenade, followed by a green belt between the beach and the Royal Military Canal.

The beach is used by fishermen, picnickers, and those looking for a relaxing spot to sit on the shore, skimming stones and watching boats and ferries pass by in the distance. The promenade, which runs all the way between Hythe to the west and Folkestone to the east, is used by pedestrians, cyclists, and runners. There are plenty of benches, cafes, and kiosks selling ice cream and other snacks. The town of Sandgate has a number of pubs, quaint independent shops, and other facilities.

There are some parking spots to be found along the seafront, although at peak times these can fill up quickly. The beach is dog friendly, with some restrictions between Sandgate Castle to Battery Point from 1st May through to September 30.

Sandgate has a rich naval and military history, and visitors can stay on the seafront at the Sandgate Hotel for a coastal break. The remains of Sandgate Castle can be visited, and a stroll along the sea front can be enjoyed from the small esplanade.

Sandgate West Beach is adjacent to the Kent Coastline Walk.
